The Infrastructure team is in charge of operating, maintaining, testing and even sometimes developing the tools and services that are necessary to the LibreOffice project and community. The LibreOffice project and the Document Foundation take great pride in relying on their own infrastructure rather than using another entity's resources. Because of this, the Infrastructure team is critical to the project.
Its tasks are to operate:
- the LibreOffice project and community website (this site you're visiting now);
- The Document Foundation's website (http://www.documentfoundation.org);
- the LibreOffice and The Document Foundation's wiki resources (http://wiki.documentfoundation.org);
- the LibreOffice project's localization and documentation collaboration tools (our Pootle website at http://translations.documentfoundation.org, the MozTrap QA site at http://manual-test.libreoffice.org/results/runs/
- the Web server of an independent project, ODFAuthors (http://www.odfauthors.org), with which we share the common goal of promoting the internationally-standardized ODF (Open Document Format), the core file format of the LibreOffice productivity suite and project;
- The Document Foundation's mail service infrastructure (notably visible to the world as our mailing lists and our Nabble mailing list interface);
- The LibreOffice project's code development and collaboration systems (Git, ...).
Part of our role is to look for ways to improve and augment our Web tools and infrastructure, so as to promote The Document Foundation's and the LibreOffice community's effective communication, internally and externally.
