ODT file, if converted to docs (I chose MS 2007-365) then the docx won't be accepted. (16.78 KB, application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text)

Description Vladimir 2023-08-16 10:27:05 UTC
I created a resume and tried to upload it to an online job seeking website (https://www.ictergezocht.n). It wouldn't accept the docx as produced by LibreOffice. Nor would it accept the *.doc version by the way.
Re-opening the document in M$ Office and then save it there fixes whatever was "wrong". I don't have more information for you. I wouldn't know what or why. I'm just an end user.

I'm willing to make available the two different, but same documents, but in a more private setting. I don't want the files be public.

Your website address is actually https://www.ictergezocht.nl (you missed the last letter l so I have to guess that).
I cannot register for a free account on that website for testing (even with proxy enabled, the website just pops up FALSE error).
Could you register a test account on this website (and you could send that account information for me over this email address) so that I can test my hypothesis with the website by myself?

Hi Vladimir,

I have tested both Microsoft Office docx file and Libre Office docx file uploaded to the website with your provided account. I have not seen any issue with uploading the Libre Office version as I expected. Your issue could probably comes from the inner content of the file.
Comment 5 Vladimir 2023-08-23 07:08:13 UTC
Thank you for looking into this. But how does content affect the format?
Comment 6 Buovjaga 2023-09-01 04:56:49 UTC
Vladimir: we need you to attach to this report the original ODT document as produced by LibreOffice, so we can then save it as DOCX to see any difference. Please check this and produce an anonymised version of the ODT: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Bugzilla/Sanitizing_Files_Before_Submission

A docx document made in Libreoffice which isn't formatted correctly possibly

Per request.
Document is a resume but slimmed down, deprived of nearly all data. Is still not accepted as a fully compatible docx document (converted in Libreoffice).

Best would be to have an ODT document, but maybe you never saved it as ODT.

It's the docx format which gives me problems. ODT is useless to the aformentioned website as it doesn't accept it. I'll fire up my NAS a bit later to see if I have an ODT version of it stored long ago.

I can always open this (emtpy, uploaded) resume and store it in ODT format and upload that, if it helps.

I understand, but *we* need the ODT as testers.

Just in case I don't have the "original" ODT, is it OK to convert this very docx into an ODT and send you guys that? It would be no hassle for me at all.

Yes, if it still shows the problem when again converted to DOCX.

Wait a minute, I don't have the option to save as ODT. The option I have is ODF.

ODF means Open Document Format, so it is the correct one.
