Description yawning_zone 2022-02-22 22:10:34 UTC
Overview:

The LibreOffice process frequently hangs after copying text from LibreOffice and pasting to a destination within LibreOffice or to an external program.

Steps to reproduce:

    1) Select text within a document.
    2) Copy the text using the standard keyboard shortcut (ctrl-c)
    3) Navigate to another place within LibreOffice or to another external program.
    4) Paste the text into the destination using the standard keyboard shortcut (ctrl-v).

Actual results:

    1) LibreOffice hangs indefinitely.
    2) The destination program hangs (if not LibreOffice).
    3) Kill the LibreOffice process.
    4) The destination program resumes operation.
    5) Copied text does not successfully paste to its destination.

Result notes:

    1) This generally occurs after about three copy/paste operations.
    2) Appears to be more reproducible when copying a larger quantity of text.

Expected results:

    1) Program should copy and paste without hanging.
    2) Copied text should appear at its destination

Attempted troubleshooting:

    1) Disable Java runtime
    2) Reset the user profile
    3) Restart LibreOffice in safe mode with Configure > Disable hardware acceleration selected.
    4) Uninstall and reinstall LibreOffice
    5) Upgrade from LibreOffice 7.2.5.2 to 7.3.0.3
    6) IRC chat with lo-qa-tg1

Build Date & Hardware:

    1) LibreOffice 7.2.5.2
    2) Mac OS X 11.5.2

Downgrading to LibreOffice version: 7.1.8.1 (Build ID: e1f30c802c3269a1d052614453f260e49458c82c) appears to resolve the issue.

Recently there were some stability improvements for macOS. Do you still see this with 7.5?

Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED, if the problem persists. Change to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.
