Description stsav012 2020-09-02 17:33:48 UTC
Description:
I've got a file that has a chart. The labels at the ticks are unreadable. What's more, I can't edit the chart. I can't even select it, move it, delete it.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the file I will attach soon.
2. See the giant chart at the middle.
3. Try to move it somewhere.

Actual Results:
Instead of the chart, the cells below it get selected.

Expected Results:
The chart is selected and shifted.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Tried with different LO versions (6.4.5, 6.4.6, 7.0.1) on Ubuntu 18.04 and 20.04. Same result.

Actual result for me

Surprisingly, the file should be read-only for the bug to reveal itself. Everything becomes normal if the file gets read and write mode.

working

I can NOT confirm this. In my case it is working.
See the video.

Try this solution: Help - Restart in Safe Mode - Restart - Factory Settings. Eveything will be like a new install. (in fact without a Safe Mode, you new installation could be affected by old installations).

Tested on
Version: 6.4.5.2
Build ID: a726b36747cf2001e06b58ad5db1aa3a9a1872d6
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;
Locale: ro-RO (ro_RO.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded
Comment 4 Leyan 2020-09-07 19:48:30 UTC
I can confirm it with 7.0.1 and the latest master.

@BogdanB: in your video, the file was not read-only initially, in that case the bug does not appear.

You can see now int he image, this is now read-only, and I can NOT reproduce your bug.
Comment 6 stsav012 2020-09-09 02:47:21 UTC
@BogdanB: at least, the x-axis labels are wrecked. They are fine when the file is writable.
Comment 7 Timur 2020-09-09 09:12:55 UTC
I'm not sure if I understand the bug, it looks like this:
1. Open attachment 165039 [details] set as read-only in file system
2. Click Edit Document button
3. Try to select the chart - not possible.

I set as minor issue. I change the title also. If this is not, please explain.

Email attachments opened in Thunderbird are saved to /tmp as read-only. If I receive a spreadsheet in email, and I want to add a chart to see if the measurement results are good, I currently can't do it properly. I have to save the attachment and open it from the file manager. Not a minor issue.
Comment 10 almos 2020-10-15 14:02:41 UTC
Oh, and by the way, if I start the chart wizard, but cancel it, the chart stays there, and it can't be deleted or interacted with.
Comment 11 almos 2022-03-30 13:32:58 UTC
This seems to be working in 7.3.1.3
Comment 12 Timur 2022-03-30 15:03:59 UTC
I don't confim it's working, someone else should also test.
Comment 13 Leyan 2022-03-30 17:11:57 UTC
The bug is still present in 7.3.1.3 for me.

Dear stsav012,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team
