Description zexcel 2019-09-23 00:46:52 UTC
Description:
It is well known that the layout of a file looks different between LO and MS office. However, it also changes even when copy/pasted on the same machine, unexpected, as shown in attachments.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.copy: Ctrl+a -> Ctrl+c
2.paste to a new file: Ctrl+n -> Ctrl+v

Actual Results:
The pasted part looks different from its original.

LO need a normalization function somewhere to drop all uncopiable factors, no matter where they come from historically.

Hello zexcel,
How the file attached was created? Using LibreOffice, or MSO? Which version ?
Comment 5 zexcel 2019-10-03 23:19:04 UTC
I don't know the detail.
The original file was attached in an email to me, a doc file. I met problem to work with LibreWriter.
I checked the file's properties, there is a date of printed history in 2013, no any version related information.

These are very bizarre settings - using full justify on this kind of text?

I'm not sure where to even start reviewing this bug report. I opened ttest.docx from comment 1 in LO 5.2 and it looks similar to what the screenshot says it looks like AFTER copy-paste. It does not look like the BEFORE-copy image. (I'm testing on Ubuntu 20.04.)

Bug still present in

Version: 24.2.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: ff9c8b62c1015972e9e89799832fa3690dcd46b4
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (de_DE); UI: de-DE
Calc: CL threaded

But I agree, that we haven't got enough information; we don't have the original doc-file and it seems to me like a rare corner corner case. So Zexcel, can you give any more information?
