Description buschfeuer 2019-06-18 21:28:10 UTC
Description:
I wanted to send a document via Writers "Send merged document as e-mail" function, which is really nice and helpful, which has activated line numbers, but these are not shown in the PDF sent via e-mail.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Setup mail server in Writer settings
2. Create a document with text and enable line numbers for each but emtpy lines
3. Use the function "Send merged document as e-mail" to send the document as PDF attachment (setup address source from calc document - everythin working so far)
4. Click "Send documents"

Actual Results:
Mail(s) are sent but the attached PDF doesn't contain line numbers.

Expected Results:
Mail(s) are sent and the attached PDF doesn contain line numbers, like setup in the initial document.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Exporting into a PDF via Writer leads to line numbers geting shown, so there is some bug in the "Send merged document as e-mail" code IMHO.

Can you say us where you find the function "Send merged document as e-mail"? What menu did you use?

If I use "File->Send->E-mail as PDF" then in PDF will be show line numbering

Well I've got a german LibreOffice and I use the following way:
Extras - Serienbrief-Assistent - Aktuelles Dokument verwenden - E-Mail-Nachricht

You can find the documentation for the "Send merged document as e-mail" function here: https://help.libreoffice.org/6.2/en-US/text/swriter/01/mm_emailmergeddoc.html

Buschfeuer, just for clarification: Line numbers are still part of the ocument, if you finish mail merge wizard and they get lost, if you send them with "Send Email Massenges"?

I tried it with current 6.3.1 version. Line numbers are still shown in the base document after the mail merge wizard finished, but they are missing in the PDF file attached to the sent e-mail. After sending the e-mail the base document in Writer still has the line numbers.

Changing back to UNCONFIRMED.
Comment 9 Dieter 2019-09-26 09:54:45 UTC
I just could send it, but I could print it "Print merged documents". With PDF creator I couldn't print line numbers. Same result with Microsoft print to PDF. No problem when I print document with File > Export as > Export as PDF

Dear buschfeuer,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword
