I just upgraded to LibreOffice 4.4.5, and when I tried to open my database, I got the above error. When I click on "More" I get two more errors: 1. Error code: 1000 The driver class '' could not be loaded. 2. SQL Status: HY000 The driver class '' could not be loaded. I tried opening my database from a backup, and got the same error, but when I click on more I get one other error: 1. SQL Status: S1000 Error code: -40 General error: org.hsqldb.lib.FileSystemRuntimeException: java.io.IOException:
Which precise java version do you have? 1.7, 1.8... 32 or 64bits? Indeed, if you installed LO 32 bits, you must have a Java 32 bits.
@zevski : please specify which bit verison of LibreOffice you are using, and which bit version of Java you have installed.
I have LibreOffice_4.4.5_Win_x86 installed. I have Java 8 update 60, both 32 and 64 bit installed. The weird thing is that I am able to view an older backup of the database file, but not the most recent version. I guess the most recent database file may have gotten corrupted?

I guess the most recent database file > may have gotten corrupted? Sounds like it. Any chance you can upload the unopenable database file to this bug report so we can take a look ? If it is indeed generally corrupted, it won't be openable on other OSes either. Ideally, having both the functional and non-functional versions of the file might enable us to find out where things have gone wrong.
Sadly, I cannot upload the files as they contain sensitive data. However, I tried opening them on my Linux box and indeed, the older backup opened fine, but the new one got the same error. This leads me to believe it is definitely corrupted, but I don't know what may have caused it.

Could be you are able to extract the database-files. You could have a look here: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/images/e/e8/BH40-BaseHandbook.pdf Page 253 might be useful.
Per comments 3 and 5, we won't get a file to test with, and a previous version of the file can be opened - closing as INSUFFICIENTDATA
