I can create a new paragraph style: F11 - right click "new" - change language to French (France) and it works for the actual session. But it isn't saved and not available for further sessions. My os is Linux Mint 17 cinnamon 2.2.16 Thanks a lot!
On pc Debian x86-64 with LO Debian package 4.4.5.2, I don't reproduce this. Once I created the style, if I save the file, close it and reopen it, the style is there. 4.2.8 is EOL (as 4.3 branch). Could you give a try to a recent LO version 4.4.5 or 5.0.0?
