Hi Keel,

thanks for the report. But I see no problem for me...
There must be something else wrong on your system? Or is it specific Suse, I doubt.

Pls ask the user-support. For exmaple there is a group of users with a great variety of skills that can offer help with questions:
  http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/

Regards,
Cor

Please @keellambert, try resetting the user profile, sometimes solves strange issues:

Comment 3 keellambert 2014-02-06 01:03:42 UTC
hi mariosv,

created new profile, logged in to that profile,
response was the same

new data can be put in some cells but not those which
change the value in others

os is openSUSE13.1
Comment 4 keellambert 2014-02-06 01:19:56 UTC
NB.
this effect does not occur for all files

the file that is affected contains charted plots
Comment 5 keellambert 2014-02-06 10:15:09 UTC
the only error indicated on the system is a single line entry in the file /var/log/messages

libobasis4.2-en-GB-calc-4.2.0.4-4.x86_64 works ok on back-up files older than about 6 months

saving the file as *.xls then re-opening that file, still gives the segfault

from tests on other machines,
identical segfaults seen,
all have very similar software and setups,

Comment 10 m_a_riosv 2014-02-18 18:30:11 UTC
With attachment in comment #9 crash for me with:
Win7x64Ultimate
Version: 4.2.0.4 Build ID: 05dceb5d363845f2cf968344d7adab8dcfb2ba71

Works fine for me with:
Version: 4.2.1.1 Build ID: d7dbbd7842e6a58b0f521599204e827654e1fb8b

Maybe some of the last fixes have resolved this bug.

Can you try to verify it is fixed with 4.2.1.1:
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/4.2.1.1/

Changed the status to resolved-fixed.

Please if you can reproduce the issue with 4.2.1.1, reopen it.
