Description Patcoola 2013-11-08 00:42:54 UTC
Problem description:

I keep all my files on my Network Attached Storage (NAS) specifically two DLink DNS 323.

Whenever I try to open any LibreOffice format by double clicking the file to open, the NAS becomes very slow and the file lunches with a prompt "Document in Use".

------------
Document file '***' is locked for editing by:

Unknown User

Open document read-only or open a copy of the document for editing.

[Open Read-Only] [Open Copy] [Cancel]
------------

There is no problem if I open LibreOffice and use the open file dialog box.

Steps to reproduce:
>Find the file you want in the Windows Explorer located on the NAS.
>>Select the file, wait 3 seconds, the file slows down the NAS.
>Try opening the file by double clicking
>>LibreOffice prompt "Document in Use"
>>The NAS slows down

Current behavior:
See Above

Expected behavior:
Should open the same as the local disk

Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.1.2.3 release
Last worked in: 3.5 all versions

If you uninstall 'Explorer shell extensions' LO component, does problem persist?
Comment 2 Patcoola 2013-11-08 06:28:56 UTC
I ran the libreoffice installer and selected modify, and unselected the 'Explorer shell extensions' LO component as suggested.

It appears to be working.

Thank you Urmas.
