Writer document to reproduce the bug.

Problem description:
I have found this bug in all Versions since 3.6

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open attached Writer document
2. Click on input field/list in protected section
3. Enter new text/choose different item
4. Click OK

Current behavior:
Input fields/lists in protected sections are not updated on clicking and entering new data.

Expected behavior:
As by starting input all fields with <Ctrl>+<Shift>+<F9>. In this case the fields are updated.

Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.1.2.3 rc
Last worked in: 3.5 all versions

Testing on Ubuntu 12.04.3 + LO 4.1.2.3

NO REPRO

I am able to change the text/select a new item in the "unprotected section" (labeled "Input field/list without section:"), and I am *UNABLE* to change the text or select a new item in the "protected section".

As OP is running nearly the same LO version as me, I believe this may be a Windows-specific bug.

Changing 'regression' -> 'PossibleRegression' until we can duplicate results.
Joel: Please test on Windows.
Comment 2 Kulo 2013-10-16 07:25:21 UTC
I also tested on openSUSE 12.3 + LO 3.6:build-304 and SLED 11SP3 + LO 4.0:build305. I noticed exactly the same issue. So I think it's not only a Windows bug.

Qubit, if you're unable to change the text or select a new item in the "protected section" you already reproduced the bug. In my opinion the intended behavior of a protected section is, that you are not able to edit any text but you are able to edit content of fields.

I don't understand what you're trying to say here...

Yes, that's the behavior I noticed.

I'm not sure of the intended behavior. Here's what the docs say:
https://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Protecting_Content_in_Writer

"Any section of a LibreOffice Writer text document can be protected against changes with a password. This protection is not intended to be a secure protection. It is just a switch to protect the section against accidental changes."

Kulo - Have you located further documentation of the 'protected section'?

Thanks

Open the attached document and press <Ctrl>+<Shift>+<F9>: this starts a sequence to fill in all fields. Now edit text or choose another item and click "Next" to get to the next field. In this case all fields in protected an non-protected sections are updated. This sequence is automatically starting if you generate a new doc by double-clicking an ott-template.

I only found this about sections:
https://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Section
and this about fields/functions:
https://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Functions

Another fact is: it doesn't make sense to insert an input field to a protected section an you can't input any text. The protection in this case is to protect the doc against changes in the layout and let users fill in text in fields. You can also see this behavior on MS Word.

Kind regards
Comment 5 Kulo 2013-11-04 09:51:17 UTC
I recently updated to 4.1.3.2 release and noticed the same behavior as in 4.1.2.3 release.
Comment 6 Kulo 2013-12-03 09:00:06 UTC
I found out that the bug 63800 and bug 64432 is similar to this one. Two out of this 3 bugs should be marked as duplicate.
Comment 7 sylvain 2013-12-30 10:19:31 UTC
Hi, the bug is still here in 4.1.4.2 on Windows 7.

Another inconsistency is that if you try to edit fields in a read only section with clicking (not <Ctrl>+<Shift>+<F9>) then :
- input fields are changed but only updated when you type F9
- input lists are not changed.
Comment 8 sylvain 2013-12-30 10:24:11 UTC
Hi again, forgot to add : the reporter said that the last working version was 3.5 but I can't reproduce the bug with version 3.6.2.1 on Windows 7.
