Description Kelso 2013-01-23 06:39:15 UTC
Open writer. Hold down the "Alt" key and grab a toolbar button. Drag (you will notice a dotted outline for the button following the cursor).

The expected behavior is for this to move the button being dragged. Instead, it appears to do nothing.

Recommend adding functionality to allow dragging buttons using the alt key to move them around on the toolbar, removing the Tools/Customize window that allows you to move them using a list and up/down arrows, and pulling the Tools/Customize/Add window into the Tools/Customize location instead.

Minimizing the number of mouse clicks and context switches a user needs to go through to perform simple actions vastly improves user experiences.

I can confirm this under OS X 10.7.5, version 3.6.5.2, indeed reproducible.

I see what you mean. The dotted outline of the button following the cursor does give the impression that we can move the icon on-the-fly. (I do that with Eudora, which I still use.)

I wonder if it's a half-baked effort or a regression, or none of that. Either way, this seems to me more like an enhancement request, rather than a bug.

Since it's the same on Windows, I suspect this is the same for all. So, I'm changing the platform to "All".
