I am attempting to create an /etc/skel so my users have a good default setting, and I can't just copy the kde config directory to /etc/skel. I am running ubuntu 11.10 .kde/share/config/ [KFileDialog Settings] Recent Files This said, you guys are awesome in using the $HOME. This is something that changes often, and is not normally something people want in their startup. Some people may want it, so you may want to read from it still, but it is simpler to just move it to the data directory. (I don't know where the data directory is) See KDE bug 290675
As the filenames suggest, this is handled by KDE libraries, and LO doesn't do anything about it. You'll need to handle this in the KDE bugreport.
