This is not a reproducible bug for LibreOffice 3.4 in spanish running on windows 7 32 bits.
Comment 2 Jean-Baptiste Faure 2011-12-15 21:25:24 UTC
I do not reproduce the crash with lodev3.5 (beta 1) under Ubuntu 10.04 x86_64 with FR langpack.
(LOdev 3.5.0 Version ID : 7362ca8-b5a8e65-af86909-d471f98-61464c4)

Cor: have you tried with a clean profile?
My tests have been done with the same profile I use for my own build of 3.5.0

Best regards. JBF

Hi Jean-Baptiste:
Tried with a fresh user profile: same problem ...

- Maybe related to locale?
hmm, does not behave different when I do
  quote-space bar a
  Enter
  quote-space bar

- Maybe related to key board setting, in the sense that I have dead keys and need to press space bar to get a simple, single quote?

No idea honestly :-\

Sorry, I can not reproduce this bug with LibreOffice 3.5 pre-beta 1, German langpack installed, running on MacOS X 10.6.8 German. I tried some variations of the steps given in Description, but no crash occurs, behaviour is completely as expected.

Looks like a OS related or keyboard settings related bug ...

Just curious: What kind of keyboard setting/layout are you using that you need to press space bar to get a simple, single quote?

US International with dead keys.
Is common in The Netherlands.

Hmm wait ... long time ago, when I was using Windows, hitting space to make the single quote appear, was not necessary.
So it is some *nix related thing (anyway over here..)

Sorry Cor but I can't reproduce it here.

Can you try with debug symbols? I think you have a own build.
Comment 8 Cor Nouws 2011-12-18 23:27:46 UTC
Hi Markus,

The version with symbols I have is
Build ID: 93acae3-090bcba-45cf606 and that does not crash.

Running gdb for the version that gives the error only shows me:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0xaf101cf6 in ?? () from /home/cono/LibreOffice/35beta1-b/lodev3.5/program/../program/libeditenglo.so

which is rather unhelpful, I guess.
Any debug build that I would be able to download?
Comment 9 Markus Mohrhard 2011-12-18 23:34:49 UTC
Can you try to reproduce that with beta2 or an up to date build?

I think Noel fixed a bug in our EditEngine handling last week.

of course I will :-)
Comment 11 Norbert Thiebaud 2011-12-30 11:41:48 UTC
I could not reproduce with 3.5 beta2 on MacOS
Comment 12 Cor Nouws 2011-12-30 13:54:59 UTC
Ah, interesting.
It does not crash with 3.5.0 beta2.
Trying with beta1 .. it does not crash now too.

Argh .. Wait... difference UI of beta2 is English, of beta1 Dutch.

Changing UI language of beta1 to English .. crash.
Restart .. does not crash again.
Changing UI again to English no crash.
UI Back to Dutch .. crash most of the times.
Changing UI again to English > crash.
etc.

Well that all for beta1
With beta2, whatever changes I try, no crash ..

So set to WORKFORME for the moment and keep fingers crossed
