Description maintel2 2011-08-09 04:11:58 UTC
Opening of this file take slightly more time as usual (like 30-60 seconds), but saving this file in .odt format take about 30 minutes, on intel i7 2.6 GHz

same with 3.4.1 and 3.4.2

soffice.bin take about 25% of CPU all the time, when I click on Writter window, it take 10 second to show window, progress bar is moving, but slowly

[Reproducible] with reporter's sample document and Master "LibO-dev 3.4.5 – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) English UI

64 bit AMD Phenom II X4 955 Processor 3.2 GHz, 4GB RAM,
Graphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 430

Filopen takes 2 minutes what might be ok for import of 385 pages
Filesave was a little curious, I saved, progress bar was through in 5s, but then LibO stopped responding, when I again tried to close with close icon (top right X) WIN message - "what shall I do?". I clicked "do not terminate, wait", after 5 further minutes LibO process had finished, as it seems without crash. New file: nearby double size as sample. A second test with "Exit" after I added a whitespace took 7 Minutes.

That's very long, but but not a desaster.

I will additionally test OOo and LibO 3.4.2

OOo 3.4 needs 4 seconds to open the document (while Master tried to open a copy in th background) - so may be it IS a disaster.
OOo 3.4 needs 4 seconds to save / close the document after I added a blank - that's a terrible disaster.

Situation with LibO 3.4.2 is worse than with Master. Fileopen took app. 10 Minutes on the same PC, Filesave even as .odt "endless". I wonder what will happen if Auto-backup starts for that document.

saved .odt (take 65 minutes)

saving take 65 minutes, here is result, opening of this .odt document also take long time (4-5 minutes)

opening of another (267 pages) .odt document take about 10 seconds
Comment 5 Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2011-08-09 05:51:23 UTC
With LibO 3.3.3 Portable on WIN7 I observed something strange. When I saved the document, saving took less than 10s. Then, when I clicked the Close Window Icon, LibO crashed (that's bad), but the save was complete within 10s (I reopened and checked).

So my suspect is that it's no problem for LibO to close the document within 10s, the additional minutes are useless? Or is that long saving time result of the crash bug fix? What the heck is LibO doing that long time?

@maintel2@yahoo.com
Thanks for additional document, I believe ow we have enough test kit and information for developers - except whether that problem also affects other OS.

@tester8:
Can you please try with Linux additionally?
Comment 6 maintel2 2011-08-09 06:07:22 UTC
Thanks. And for me, during 65 minutes the saving progress bar is moving. When I closed it sooner (I killed task via task manager), document is not saved.
