Description Cor Nouws 2024-04-27 20:54:20 UTC
a) Ctrl+F6 is found for accessibility(1) but not general e.g. Writer(2), while it is useful in any document.

b) Also, looking at Tools>Customize, tab Keyboard, Ctrl+F6 is not listed..

@Cor, one-issue per bug please...

@Olivier, we don't tend to also list the app-wide shortcuts in the component-specific shortcut pages, do we?
Alt, F6 and F10 are not listed either in the Writer page.
However, all 4 are listed in the general shortcuts list: https://help.libreoffice.org/24.8/en-US/text/shared/04/01010000.html

So in my opinion, we shouldn't repeat ourselves too much, and this is a "won't fix".
@Cor, @Stuart, don't you think the General Shortcut Keys page covers it already?

I think the Help TOC 'General Shortcuts' and 'Shortcuts (LibreOffice Accessibility)' coupled with the "per module" shortcuts *do* cover them all.

But maybe not the most concise assemblage, especially as some some shortcuts are suppressed/unavailable, or do not appear in the Customize dialog at all. And then muddled by automated (or residual pre-assigned) localized accelerators.

The online-help/F1 model, even with TOC guidance, falls short for guiding keyboard usage.

We could almost use an entire LibreOffice Guide 'Book' covering keyboard use and our Assistive Technology implementations?

IMO 1* is a textbook and 2* is a nice clear table

Noticing that 2 mentions:
"You can also use the general shortcut keys in LibreOffice." linking to 3*.
Maybe that should read:
"Mind: also look at the general shortcut keys. They are relevant and not repeated on this page".

Sure, but that would be wider-ranging issues that need their own reports (streamlining shortcut documentation; making it easier to access a list of shortcuts in the app...). Related to that, I feel like I've seen somewhere an enhancement request about an in-app shortcut overlay accessible through the Help menu...

Starting from "List of General Shortcut Keys", it's for the most part categorised tables. One could argue it needs splitting into two distinct pages, sure.

OK, this makes sense to me, it clarifies things and is quite actionable.

The notice can be improved in the equivalent Impress[1], Draw[2], Math[3], Chart[4] and Base[5] pages too, and it is even entirely missing from the Calc one[6].
