Description:
Hello, my problem is not about sam malfunction but just about user friendliness and comprehensibility and logic of the user control.

I set up a "tabs similar to MS Office" interface and I need to turn on the vertical ruler.

I found the hint to be View > Rulers > Vertical Ruler. But I see only the Rulers button on the View tab, but there is no way to open it and select "vertical ruler".. so it is swithing on of only horisonstal ruler.

So I tried to find another official help and i found this: Tools - Options - LibreOffice Writer - View. This was working, but in one user interface you will find it in the menu, in secound you have to open full options and hardly search for it? Its big inconsistency.

The only option how to do it by clicking in the users menu would be to switch to the original user interface, without tabs, and set it there according to standard help - I hope so, so I continue this direction.

And there was another problem - it should be View > User Interface... How in previous interface it was and how official help says.. But again - there is no such option on the View tab. No matter what I am trying to click on it.

On the View tab, there is also a drop-down View button on the right, where I would expect these "extra" tools that did not fit on the tabs. But they are not even there.

Finally! after some more searching I thought it might be somewhere in the "three commas" menu.. and sure enough, it's there. In a completely unexpected place that no hint mentions. The help says it will be in the menu, which is represented by tabs in this environment, not in ambivalent button above these tabs.

In other words, for me, the bug is that one user interface does not have the same menu content in the same place as the original one, and therefore it is not even possible to switch to the original user interface according to the standard help or turn on the vertical ruler according to the standard help, and there will probably be more of those things of "incompatibility" between standard help and "non standard" user interface (but it is standard because it is included in standard LibreOffice).

Expected behavior in my opinion: it's understandable that card mode can't contain such a rich menu like standard interface. But there is always a clickable button on the right of the card, where there could be functions that did not fit into the cards. Or button "Rullers" could be clickable and after that "horisontal ruler on/off" and "verticaL ruler on/off".

I kind of think that this topic will be evaluated as crap by you developers, but in my opinion, it is precisely these little things and poor expectations in the control and logic of the program that lead to the fact that Excel is sometimes recognized as much easier to control and therefore more popular among ordinary users. That's why I believe that a little care in this topic could make a big difference for the better. Thank you very much.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Switch to a "tabs similar to MS Office" interface
2. Try to find vertical ruler under button Rullers on the card/tab View / or at least find it in the clicable button View on the right of the same card
3. Try to find button User interface on the card View / or at least find it in the clicable button View on the right of the same card

Actual Results:
Some functionality is not present in "tabs similar to MS Office" interface (and maybe also other interfaces)

Expected Results:
All interfaces has the same content so it is easy to find any setting or swith for any function according to standard help and according to natural expectation

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
"Please copy here the information from menu Help - About LibreOffice. You can also add other information that might be relevant"

LOL - the same story, there is no such menu in described tab "Help", tehre is even no this tab. So again - searching on other places and found it! "Three commas" menu > About LibreOffice

I confirm the observation, but I would treat it as enhancement request rather than a bug report. I also think, that it should be separated into different reports. But let's ask design-team. Perhaps it's more a lack of documentation.

There is no issue. Simply toggle the legacy main menu enabled, 1st button on the Tabbed UI's bar, and select Vertical Ruler from the View -> Rulers sub menu.

Several of the MUFFIN Notebook Bar modes simply suppress the main menu, but as noted there are some UNO controls that are not available as button actions on the GTK Glade based assemblages. Or where NB designer decided buttons are not enabled shown by default, but can be 'Customized' to show.

In this case the NB Tabbed UI does not provide a customization to checkbox enable the Vertical Ruler (.uno:VRuler), or enable it by default. Its action is available from the main menu View -> Rulers, but an UNO button toggle action might be helpful as a customize checkbox for the NB Tabbed/Tabbed Compact UI.

By default enabled would spoil packing of the current View button grouping, so don't see it as necessary.

The "Rulers" toggle on the Tabbed UI shows/hides both the horizontal and vertical ruler at once.

I think we should provide all options without the main menu. And rather than having the Rulers command duplicated under the View dropdown, we should provide the toggle for .uno:VRuler there. Or both as we do on the main menu.

UI-wise it makes a lot of sense to complement the .uno:VRuler with .uno:HRuler (.uno:Rulers hides the rulers and disables both). But I struggle with a reasonable use case.

And since we don't have a VRuler-only mode, I could also imagine a solution per bug 87897. Meaning the context menu of the horizontal ruler allows to show/hide the vertical ruler.
