Description Christian Beuschel 2024-03-21 09:17:10 UTC
Description:
Openinng a write protected file, for example one on a network share, that is allready opened by another user leads to the following behaviour:

An error message diealog appears to tell the file is write protected and you have to click the only option "OK".

Switching from one sheet to another brings up the same error message, you have to confirm with a click on the "OK" button. - That is very annoying.

If you try to close the file, the same error message appears again. As you hit "OK" the file does not close.

The way to close the file is to open it in a writeable mode first an then closing it without saving it. You need to click three buttons in three different dialogues to do so.

The other way, taken by most users who reportet the problem to me, is to kill LibreOffice using the Windows Task Manger.

Version: 24.2.1.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: db4def46b0453cc22e2d0305797cf981b68ef5ac
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22631; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: de-DE
Calc: CL threaded

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a write protected Calc document for example a file on a network share, that is allready opend by another user.
2. Click through the different pages/sheets to get annoiyed by the "Write protected dialogue".
3. Close the file while it's in write protected mode. Get stuck with an annoying dialoge.

Actual Results:
The file can't be closed as long as it is in write protected mode. You only get a very annoying and pointless dialogue, which tells you "the file is write protected".

Expected Results:
No dialogue is needed. The banner on top of the spreadsheet is engough to know, the file is in write protected mode.

The file shold just be closed, when the user closes the file.

Reproducible: Always
