Description Dr. Martinus 2024-02-14 09:44:00 UTC
Description:
When printing a document, it prints up to but excluding the page, on which a picture is included. The picture is created using xsane. I have done this thousand times before without any problems, but recently (well, this behaviour has begun about a year ago, but continues up to today) it just won't print any of the documents with those images. I'll attach a file for your reference. LO will not print following pages, if there are no images. It just stops at the page where the image is included. Recently I tried with some png files, and there are no problems. It happens only with those jpg files. PDF export works fine and includes all gimages.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. include an image (scanned by xsane?) in a text document
2. try to print it
3.

Actual Results:
LO will not print beginning from the page on which the first image is located

Expected Results:
LO prints all pages with images

Reproducible: Always

I'm sorry I didn't reply earlier. I started LO in Safe Mode and tried to print, the problem still exists. It prints only the first page of the document and not the second. One thing that might be of relevance: I always try to print in duplex mode, in order to save paper. Could that have something to do with it?
Comment 7 Dr. Martinus 2024-02-28 10:43:47 UTC
I just tried it out without duplex, then it works. But I need to be able to print in duplex mode.
Comment 8 m_a_riosv 2024-02-28 22:53:22 UTC
How do you select duplex mode?
Comment 9 Dr. Martinus 2024-02-29 16:09:21 UTC
I have set up the printer driver accordingly. In fact, I have several printers which different settings installed via CUPS, for various situations like duplex printing, photo printing, different paper sizes etc. When I go into properties within the LO print dialogue, I can see the settings for the printer as they are set within CUPS.
Comment 10 BogdanB 2024-02-29 16:13:36 UTC
I think "duplex" mode is active only when a printer with such capabilities is connected. So, we can not test with a virtual PDF printer.
Comment 11 Dr. Martinus 2024-03-01 14:51:49 UTC
Sure, I need to print out things on paper, not virtually. And because I print a lot, I have a duplex printer (which did the job flawlessly until a few months ago - unfortunately, I do not recollect when exactly it started, but it was long before I reported the issue).
Comment 12 Dr. Martinus 2024-03-06 09:51:10 UTC
Hello? Remains this problem unconfirmed because nobody can test it on a duplex printer? Or why is it now so quiet here?
Comment 13 Dr. Martinus 2024-03-29 12:32:43 UTC
One more observation which I just made after trying around a little bit: I can chose in the print dialog (properties of the printer), which printer language should be used. There are four or five different options:

Automatic (Postscript, level of the driver)
Postscript, level of the driver
Postscript, level 1
Postscript, level 2
Postscript, level 3
PDF

If I select PDF, duplex printing works even with graphics. Originally, it worked always with the "Automatic" selection.
