How to reproduce bug:
- Create new text document
- Type something

- click on any of those folder icons
- spinning beachball appears and does not disappear again

What's your macOS version? Do you confirm you use x86 (so 32 bits) and not x86-64 or ARM ?
Do you use LO from AppStore or from official TDF website?

Please upgrade to LO 7.6.4 + try https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps.
Comment 2 Stefan 2024-01-10 15:44:26 UTC
Mac OS 14.1.2
x86-64, sorry (It’s a Macbook Air 2019)
App download from TDF Website.
bug occurs in LO 7.6.4.1

> app works as expected after deleting user profile
Great! Let's put this one to WFM then.
Comment 5 Stefan 2024-01-10 15:58:59 UTC
no, unfortunately I was too early to say it works!
Bug reappered right after deleting user profile.

Beachball appears as soon as you try to change any of the folders in the popup window.

Would it be possible to have extra information like a backtrace? (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugReport/Debug_Information#macOS:_How_to_get_debug_information)

Reading the backtrace, I'm not sure it's a crash, it resembles an hang.

Have you got a network device or do you use Cloud service?

I mean if you try to save the file on local hard disk/ssd, does it hang too?
Comment 10 Stefan 2024-01-10 18:05:22 UTC
The culprit apparently is an old version of the Dropbox app.
It seems to affect saving even to local disks.
Once Dropbox is disabled, saving from LO works fine.
Thank you, Julien.

This is notourbug or worksforme but not fixed, as there is no commit. Thanks for the update.
