Description Andreas Schiff 2023-11-26 10:53:22 UTC
Description:
When preparing a slide show, I import pictures via drag and drop. With pictures in "landscape" format everything is fine. Pictures in "portrait" format, however, are turned by 90°. This is annoying, because there is no simple command to turn pictures by exactly + or -90° backwards.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open Impress with 'New'
2.Import picture with 'portrait' format via drag & drop
3.

Actual Results:
The picture is turned by 90°. I assume that this behaviour is not expected by the user.

Expected Results:
The orientation of the picture should not be changed when imported via drag & drop.

Reproducible: Always

Right-click the image and select 'Original size'
Comment 2 Andreas Schiff 2023-11-26 13:26:35 UTC
right clicking the image and selecting 'original size' does not help.

I should have added in my bug report that the behaviour described applies to large inages only.

On this version following the steps there are no problems

Maybe this is about EXIF orientation tag values?

https://github.com/recurser/exif-orientation-examples
http://sylvana.net/jpegcrop/exif_orientation.html

I do confirm that the Portrait_*.jpg files from 2 to 7 all open with incorrect orientation.

I see fixed bugs bug 131969 and bug 146019 that were dealing with EXIF orientation.
Comment 6 Carla Aranaga 2023-12-20 04:56:39 UTC
I confirm that the portrait files .jpg open in the incorrect orientation form when drag and drop.

Right click and 'Original size' does not fix the file orientation.

I'm unable to reproduce the same behavior in

Version: 24.8.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: a2265e8faa099d9652efd12392c2877c2df1d1eb
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: default; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

or

Version: 24.2.1.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: db4def46b0453cc22e2d0305797cf981b68ef5ac
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: default; VCL: win

Calc: threaded

When the image is first dragged into the window, its size changes, but it's orientation doesn't. Right-clicking and selecting "Original Size" fixed this issue, however.
