Description Lupe 2023-08-05 23:15:55 UTC
Description:
The following feature has been proposed as a Possible UX Eval as a response to Linux community member in this video starting at 10:20- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4laywFgYRFI&t=817s.

This video has been presented within the last year & the comments as well as bugzilla don't show a real urgency for this feature to be implemented. I do see that it can be improved and here are the following notes for possible UI improvement.

The Built In Templates available contains issues according to the ux evaluation guide that is available here: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Design/Principles.

1) UX- Efficiency-

Users looking for any Calc or Draw templates are limited to one or less templates and thus are required to perform an extra step in order to obtain any sort of spreadsheet template or users looking for more variety.

2) UX- Consistency-

(a.) creating a minimum number of 2 or more available templates allow for users to have a choice of picking a template. Competitor suites such as Google Suite have a minimum of 2 templates for each category.

(b.) creating sub categories (i.e. business, school, personal) to promote user efficiency rather than reading each template title.

3) UX- Discovery-

During the video, there is no mention of the Help or Extensions sections located at the bottom left. I wonder how many times these features are missed? Might be redundant but I would propose add a button to lead user's to the extensions page inside the templates selection.

Suggestions:

I propose an enhancement for the templates library: introducing subcategories that describe the template's industry or primary use. Additionally, to ensure compliance with industry standards and provide users with more options, each subcategory should offer a minimum of two templates, this might be pulled from available templates on the extension. Finally, creating a button to lead to extensions section inside the template section.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Enhancement
