Description Andy 2023-08-02 06:25:25 UTC
In the Linux Mint (21.2 5.15.0-78-generic Cinnamon 5.8.4), the window buttons can be switched to be on the left top (or bottom) of a window.
Can the LibreOffice "Close Button" for a single document also be moved left, perhaps to the left of the word "File"? It seems lonely over there all by itself!

Andy,

I am changing the marking 'Importance' here to 'enhancement' because in case you have not heard - the 'Close Button' is actually a hermit.

It lives by itself, and tries to stay out of harm's way - mainly to ensure there is no accidental activation of it's one useful feature.

This unlike the fellow LO toolbar residents such as File, Edit, View, etc, which have so many features and require more frequent activation.

Thank you

Andy,

I forgot to add - if you're looking for alternatives to bothering the lonely 'Hermit x' as it is sometimes known.

You can always try Ctrl+F4 - per the LibreOffice online help:

Close Window
Closes the current window. Choose Window - Close Window, or press Ctrl+F4. In the print preview of LibreOffice Writer and Calc, you can close the current window by clicking the Close Preview button.

If additional views of the current document were opened by Window - New Window, this command will close only the current view.

We aim for best integration with the OS/DE and place the window system buttons accordingly on macOS. I think we should detect the button sequence on other OS too.

Adding an option is not an option, IMO.

what is the way to do: "the window buttons can be switched to be on the left top (or bottom) of a window."? Some gtk-decoration-layout option in ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini ?

Dear sergio.callegari,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://online-haven.com/
