1) Create a new impress presentation. Default language is English 2) activate automatic spell checking. 3) Create slides with Swahili text. Almost all words are underlined as faulty. 4) change language to Swahili (Tanzania). Either in format styles or via "Tools - Language - For All Text" Result: All words are still underlined as faulty. As soon as the first one is added to a dictionary, all underlining disappears. Spell Checking (F7) returns empty result, the language is displayed as "none". Expected result: Underlining of words in the Swahili dictionary should disappear. F7 should run a correct spell check, and the language in the language picker should be set to "Swahili".

Martin: did you have Swahili dictionary installed? I tested now by having both English and Finnish dictionaries. The default language was Finnish. I wrote a sentence in Finnish. I changed language for all text to English. Redlining appeared. I added the first word to the dictionary. Redlining disappeared *only* for that word. Spell checking also worked as expected, not as you describe. Well, for me it still doesn't work. I also tried German to rule out that it's not a problem with the Swahili spell checker, but it still makes problems. F7 either gives empty results and shows "no language", or checks all text as English, although it is formatted as Swahili. Changing the spell checking language to Swahili works, but must be done after every single word. Works for me with https://extensions.libreoffice.org/en/extensions/show/swahili-dictionary Your example text gives me redlining for makarne, Zilisauhuliwa and zimekumbukwa. F7 Spelling dialog also works as expected. Tested both by doing the language change from another language and by having Swahili (Tanzania) as default language for documents.
The funny thing is that it works for me in writer as well. It's only in Impress. Oh, I added a custom Swahili only user dictionary where I put my Swahili words in (to not mix up different languages). And I also have a user dictionary for names only that has no language attached to it.

With your dictionary, the example text in comment 3 doesn't give any errors, because you added makarne, Zilisauhuliwa and zimekumbukwa to the dictionary. If I write some gibberish, it is immediately redlined and also brought up in the F7 spell checking dialog. All this time I have been testing in Impress. To be sure, I also tested under Wayland now, so our systems are identical.
