Description James Buton 2023-07-06 08:39:42 UTC
Description:
If I install the latest dictionary extension in LibreOffice 7.5.5.1 it installs fine and I can close and re-open LibreOffice and the extension sticks. However, once I reboot the system, the new extension is lost and the dictionary reverts to a default old version. This is a repeatable occurrence.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install LibreOffice 7.5.5.1
2.Install new Dictionary extension dated 2023.07
3.Reboot computer and see that your new dictionary extension has reverted to an old one from 2011!

Actual Results:
Upon a reboot of the computer, reopening LibreOffice and checking the installed extensions in the Extension Manager, the previously installed updates have reverted back to the older (standard issue) versions. https://extensions.libreoffice.org/en/extensions/show/english-dictionaries

Expected Results:
The expectation is that once you update an extension it should stay in the system, replacing the previous version of that extension. Not that every time you reboot your computer should you have to reinstall the updated version of the dictionary extension every time.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
I'm using this extension found here https://extensions.libreoffice.org/en/extensions/show/english-dictionaries
as the example of what caused the problem.

This only occurs in LibreOffice 7.5.5.1. Earlier version of LibreOffice don't exhibit the behaviour.

It's a strange situation, looks like the system is recovering those files or folders, to a previous state.

You can try before reboot, copy the folder of LibreOffice profile. https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile or doing it with Menu/Help/Restart in Safe Mode.

Also, you can test with 7.6.beta, which is installed in parallel, not overwritten the 7.5 version.

Hi m.a.riosv,

Thanks for this. I have tried copying the folder of LibreOffice profile. (https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile or doing it with Menu/Help/Restart).

Does this work for you?

Thanks,

James Buton

I have not the issue, but you can try again, and see if the extension's folder in the profile is changed after reboot, before load LibreOffice.

The same problem that plagued v7.5 has not been addressed in v7.6.

When installed in new extension into LibreOffice via the Extension Mananger all goes well.

Then if you reboot the computer, LibreOffice loses that new extension, and defaults to the older version not matter what.

M.A. Riosv suggests https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile or doing it with Menu/Help/Restart in Safe Mode. But this doesn't work.

Is there any way to resolve this issue?

This is the only report about this, so seems something strange is happening.

You can try uninstalling LibreOffice, and renaming the profile to avoid that something is keeping.
