Created attachment 187093 [details] photo of the page break look-alike unpredictable shape appears in the document, that looks similar to a page break, and certain amount of text above and below it, DISAPPEAR. If I save the corrupt document in plain text (.txt) the text reappears. that "page break look-alike", cannot be removed. it appears at random location in the document, when in .odt format. see the attached photo of that weird "page break look-alike". I'm using: Ubuntu 22.04 I had the snap version of Libreoffice. I used the flatpak version. I used the downloaded version from the LIBREOFFICE website. the problem remains. and in one file, the text was completely gone. I lost 2 days worth of notes.
Maybe Menu/View/Whitespace
Could also be: Outline folding mode https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/7.1 but: There must be experimental features been enabled.
(In reply to m.a.riosv from comment #1) > Maybe Menu/View/Whitespace you are right, Menu/View/Show whitespace affects it's shape. it changes from the broad band shape to a line shape. and hovering the cursor over it, changes the cursor to a rectangle with arrows sticking out from the top and bottom of the rectangle; although cursor does NOT do anything, other than change shape once you hover over that thing. My problem with it, is that it shows up at random locations in the document, when closing and opening the doc, will show it at different lines. and MY WORRY, is when text above and below that crazy line (wide band) DISAPPEARS.
(In reply to Robert Großkopf from comment #2) > Could also be: Outline folding mode > https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/7.1 > but: There must be experimental features been enabled. Please elaborate. I looked into the "outline folding mode" and played with it. at least what I found, had no effect on that "malicious" weird line (see my comment above, re: why malicious)
[Automated Action] NeedInfo-To-Unconfirmed
Thank you for reporting the bug. I can not reproduce the bug in: LibreOffice Version 7.5.3.2 (X86_64)or 7.6.0.0.aplha1+ (X86_64) Kernel: 5.19 OS: Ubuntu 22.04.2 The steps I followed were: 1. Launched Writer 2. Created a new .odt document 3. Added some text over two pages 4. Toggled 'Menu/View/Whitespace' on and off 5. Scrolled up and down No strange shape appeared. Can you confirm that the above steps produce the bug for you? Perhaps you can attach the document you are using?

Please don't close this! I see this problem constantly. I'm busy this second but I will try to get you better info later. I'm in Windows. I see this problem most frequently when pasting text. I think it's related to outline folding because the rogue "page break" often appears above a header, and I can sometimes get rid of it by folding or unfolding that header. I don't have a simple test case, I see this in documents which have many levels of headers and have seen many changes and lots of folding and unfolding. It starts after I've been editing for some days. Once it has started, every paste triggers it.

Have tested the attached document with Version: 24.2.0.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: b1fd3a6f0759c6f806568e15c957f97194bbec8f CPU threads: 6; OS: Linux 5.14; UI render: default; VCL: kf5 (cairo+xcb) Locale: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded Couldn't see any buggy behavior. Note: The document is set to View → Web. So no page break would be shown at all …
And yet, per my screenshot, I see one. Or something that looks like one. I'm sorry that my document doesn't show this for you, but it is truly something that I see dozens of times each day. Hundreds, if I'm doing a lot of edits.
I was unable to reproduce this behavior in Version: 24.2.1.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: db4def46b0453cc22e2d0305797cf981b68ef5ac CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: default; VCL: win Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US Calc: threaded or Version: 24.8.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: a2265e8faa099d9652efd12392c2877c2df1d1eb CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: default; VCL: win Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US Calc: threaded
