Description Jon 2023-03-24 14:20:40 UTC
Description:
Using an HP Chromebook Chrome OS is current version, with a Penguin Linux environment in which Libre Office 7.4.6 is installed.
Using Write
All works well using internal Chromebook memory.
If I try and access files on a USB stick they can only be opened in read only.
If I edit a file opened from internal memory I cannot save it to external memory.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Using ChromeBook and external USB memory stick. With Writer installed in Linux environment
2. Start writer and attempt to open *.odt file on memory stick
3. Writer offers to open file in read only mode only

Actual Results:
Have to save or open file using internal memory and then copy onto memory stick which is a frustration.
USB stick is accessible by other Chrome Apps so is functioning as would be expected

Expected Results:
To be able to read or write to/from a usb memory stick

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Libre Office can be very slow to load at times. 1 - 3 minutes, but occasionally is an almost instant load. Once open using File Open for the first time can result in a slow response in seeing the file/folder structure in the dafault directory.

not certain whether the drive needs mounting (or how to do it)

Same Version of Libre Office run on Windows 10 pro has no such difficulty.

Confirm Writer as 7.4.2.3 and NOT 7.4.6
Comment 3 Dieter 2023-04-06 22:09:17 UTC
Jon, could you please retest with LO 7.5 and also in Safe Mode?
 Thank you

Hi,
My apologies for taking so long.
I had difficulty uninstalling 7.4 and 7.22 one of which was flatpak and one not but eventually found my way forward.

So LO 7.5.2.2 installed and still the same,
Also the same in Safe Mode.
Picture of error screen submitted in previous attachment.

Following uninstall and re-install I seem to have lost my mappings to my usb ports from within LibreOffice.
As a result only opened *.ODT files by a double click from within the files app.
If LO shut it opens Writer if LO Open it switches to the LO screen and then gives the error screen.

I have looked in Linux developer settings and the USB 3 memory device is seen there.

Thnak you for retesting. Since I use Windows, I can't confirm the problem. I hope Linux user can test.
