Just to make the use case clear, you are using a non-dark theme in your operating system, but you want LibreOffice to look like it does in dark mode?

Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED after you have provided the information.

No. In dark mode I would like dark mode pop-ups.
Ideally, this would be selectable option, that is, I can at will set the pop-ups to the Appearance I want and override the automatic setting.

Just to make it clear:

- in dark mode you want dark mode dropdowns
- in non-dark mode you also want dark mode dropdowns (by changing the Application Colors)

I'm still having difficulty understanding what you mean.
Comment 5 lostbits 2022-12-17 18:31:15 UTC
that's correct:
[1] In dark mode the default for dropdowns should be in dark mode.
[2] In light mode the default for dropdowns should be in light mode.
[3] In any mode an option should be available for dropdowns.
[4] For customized appplication colors an option should be available to colorize the dropdowns.

The current dropdown application colors is light mode in all cases. That is without regard to the Application Colors used for input, dropdowns always use light mode, that is, the same Application Colors used when Application Colors are LibreOffice (Light) (Tools->Options->Application Colors->LibreOffice).

I hope that this is clear. If not please indicate what I need to provide so that you have an understanding of the intent of this request. I don't know what additional material I can present, but I will try to present something.

We aim for conformity with the OS/DE so controls look like as drawn with the native toolkit. If you change the system color to have a pink background it should be the same on LibreOffice. In other words, a customization of specific system colors is neither provided nor planned. And if you have trouble with just one type of control, recent patches solved several issues on Windows, see bug 118320.

The mentioned "dropdowns" and "pop-ups" is a bit unspecific and could also mean the internally used form controls. So please share a screenshot if there is a bug.
Comment 7 lostbits 2022-12-19 17:23:22 UTC
Sorry if I'm confusing.
This is not a bug. It is a request for a feature.
All dropdown/pop-up menus share that same application colors.
I am unable to get a screenshot. If I select an option with a a dropdown/pop-up menu and then click on anything outside of the LibreOffice document, the menu disappears.,

How to Repeat:
1. Open any LibreOffice application.
2. Click on any option with a dropdown/pop-up menu.
3. Observe the menu. It will have black text and a white background.

In step 3 what is requested as an enhancement is to have the same Application Colors as used in the LibreOffice document and/or to be able to select the Application Colors to be used. That is to either have the color scheme changed automatically and/or to provide a means for the use to selectively change the color scheme. As an additional condition, if selection is enable to be able to link the color scheme with the Appearance Color scheme or with all Appearance Color schemes.

Please drop me a line if there is any additional information I can provide. Most particularly, tell me what issues you have in an exact manner as you can provide.

Thank you.

NOTE: You can change dropdown to/from pop-up in any manner you feel comfortable with.

Thank you for your attention to this request for a new feature. The comment below indicates (albeit with grammatical errors) what is requested, to wit, to be able to change the universal Application Colors used for dropdown/pop-up menus to a user selectable Application Color scheme and/or to an Application Color scheme linked to the current user selected Application Color scheme.

Unfortunately, I was unable to get a screen shot including the dropdown/pop-up menus.

Attaching a screenshot made on Linux/kf5 using Breeze Dark system theme. We want (and do) use the system theme colors for controls like the expanded dropdown for line spacing. The configuration of tools > options > application colors affect only internal values such as the document background, the underlining of track changes, the colorization of data types in Calc etc. It is not planned to merge these two.

If you run a different OS/DE (operation system / desktop environment) please add this information. Considerable improvements have been made for Windows recently. So you maybe want to test the nightly build (or wait for the upcoming version 7.5).

If you are talking about the 'combobox' or 'push button' forms inserted in the document we may start again pondering if it makes sense to follow the OS/DE here.

The screen shot is exactly what I suggested but sigh, I'm on a windows box so I don't have it. I will wait for LO 7.5.

thanks
