Description Gigiux 2022-09-19 12:42:16 UTC
Description:
I have created an ODT file with LO WRITER 7. This has been modified with tracking mode on MS WORD 2019. When opening back the modified file with WRITER, the trackings are lost -- or at least not visible either in WRITER or WORD.
Is it possible to recover them or are they lost?

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Write ODT document in WRITE
2.Modifiy with WORD using tracking mode
3.open back in WRITER

Actual Results:
modifications lost

Expected Results:
tracking mode maintained -- I can see the WORD's modifications

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
The tracking were visible prior to recent updates

Please attach a sample document that exposes the behaviour that was created in Writer, saved as .odt, loaded in Word and modified with change-tracking enabled, and saved back as .odt

Example file ODT

File crteated by LO7; modified in Word with track change; lines added are shown in yellow in LO7, style change shows directly, not marked as a track. Other changes completly hidden. LO7 is in EDIT>TRACK CHANGES>SHOW.

I reproduce with office.com, but isn't this Microsoft's problem?

Gigioux, ist the problem still present in LO 24.2? If yes, why do you think it is a bug in LO?

Hi, thanks for taking careof this. I have LO WRITER 7.3.7.2 -- why LO24?
I don't know if the error is LO or Microsoft, bu the problem is that I can't switch between the two platforms. This is a problem because my personal machines are all based on LO but the colleagues use WORD...

LO 7.3 is an old version with no firther development. Actual version is LO 24.2 (February 2024). So pelase retest with this version or at least with stable version LO 7.6.

As far as I understood from your bug description there are the following steps:
1. Create an odt-file with LO Writer
2. Open that file in MS Word and modify it with tracking changes
3. Save it in Word as odt-file
4. Open it in Word or in LO

Actual result: No tracking changes

So if you modify it in Word and reopen it in Word and tracking changes are lost, LO isn't involved and therefore it's a Microsoft problem (perhaps problem when saving odt-file with tracing changes) and LO can't fix that bug.
