Description: In Writer, in Format - Paragraph - Alignment tab, the meaning of the string "Text-to-text" is quite hard to understand without consulting Help. The actual meaning is "The alignment of oversized or undersized characters relative to the rest of the text in the paragraph" (see Help), so changing this string to something more understandable such as "Oversized and undersized characters" would make it easier to understand for users and translators. "Text-to-text" is the heading and there's a a label called "Alignment:" below it. My idea was that "Oversized and undersized characters" would be the heading and "Alignment:" would be left unchanged. (Actually "Vertical alignment:" would be more specific, so ideally that should be changed too.)
So, this is definitely an issue! I always semi-consciously skipped over Text-to-Text and it's only now that I've noticed it even exists - since the phrasing is so obscure. My suggestions: "Vertical character alignment" "Vertical alignment of characters" this will also remind users of what "vertical alignment" means in Draw and Impress, giving them a sense of what changing this would actually look like - but with characters instead of shapes.
We discussed this topic in the design meeting. While the current string is unclear the number of proposals indicate that any other string wont be an ultimate solution. The string should basically be as short as possible. My personal favorite is "Vertical character alignment" for the frame title (bold font) and "Position" for the label of the combobox.
