Description peter josvai 2022-07-04 11:35:09 UTC
hi,

there is this option among autocorrect options: "apply styles",

and I left it checked... assuming it is not a bad thing :)

anyway, I didn't know what that meant...
and I had to go google, search phrase, matches list overview, click, and read the help page... down to where "apply styles" were placed...

............
SUGGESTION:

it would be great if a popup info appeared "on mouse over",
like in the toolbar icons' case, for example...

above "apply styles" it could be read: "Automatically apply a Heading 1-8 style when a text starts with an uppercase letter and does not end with a period... see more in the help page";
............

it would be great help, making the learning curve much steeper! :)

---- thank you for developing libreoffice ----

Indeed, even with the Extended Tooltips option enabled there is no tooltips for items in a listbox as is the case here.

Clicking the Help button in the bottom left corner leads to the correct help page though.

Olivier, what do you think? Help button seems pretty helpful already.

Extendend tooltip for every option is "Select the options for automatically correcting errors as you type, and then click OK." Having a look at further information for specific option "apply styles" I think you can't bring all relevant information into a tooltip. Suggestion in comment 0 is not sufficient, because you also need the relevant information, that "this feature works only with “Default Paragraph Style”, “Body Text” or “Body Text, Indented” paragraph styles, and there must be one empty paragraph before the text, if the text is not at the top of a page."

So I would leave it as it is, becuase help page works.

Olivier, question from heiko to you in comment 2 ist still open.
