Description y_uchida 2022-04-12 07:03:22 UTC
Description:
LibreOffice 7.3.2.2 takes longer to start in certain cases. In my environment, it takes about 3 seconds longer. I don't think this was the case in LibreOffice 7.1.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Remove a user profile (if it exists in %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\)
2. Start soffice.exe and close it
3. Start soffice.exe again

Actual Results:
When I start soffice.exe in step 3, a white screen appears for about 3 seconds after the window appears.

Expected Results:
No waiting on a white screen.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Once I start and close Writer or Calc, the problem no longer occurs unless I delete the user profile.

Hello,

Thank you for reporting the bug. Unfortunately I can't reproduce in

Version: 7.4.0.0.alpha0+ (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 3b48e20b0101584a5e7ef48ba82238e735f0772b
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19043; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win
Locale: cs-CZ (cs_CZ); UI: en-US
Calc: CL

Starting soffice in step 3 is very quick, under 1 second. I think same as in older versions.

Could you please try to reproduce it with a master build from https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/ ?
You can install it alongsidethe standard version.
I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the master build

I tried it. The same problem occurred with the master build.

Version: 7.4.0.0.alpha0+ (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: cdf8e971d5d46df4bcab35a99c4254df9459213f
CPU threads: 6; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19043; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win
Locale: ja-JP (ja_JP); UI: ja-JP
Calc: CL

In the master build, it appears that the profile is in the LibreOfficeDev directory, not LibreOffice.

I see you have Vulkan. Do you see any slowness, if you deactivate it from Tools - Options - LibreOffice - View - Use Skia for all rendering?

I tried it, but it did not change the fact that the window remained white for about 3 seconds at the startup in Step 3.

I tried with 7.5.0.3 and the same thing.

Additional information about this report

It is too late to provide this, but I will.

The simplest way to describe this report is that it takes a long time to start up when Writer or Calc is never started. I was using only the conversion function of soffice.exe with the command and that is when I found this problem.

So to be clear, the issue happens when LibreOffice was only started from the command line since the profile was deleted and created? And the issue is resolved once one of the components is started directly using the GUI app launchers?
Does it still happen with LO 24.2?
