Description Clint 2022-01-25 13:45:15 UTC
Description:
I have a similar problem in that often times I cannot add the last line or two of a bulleted list to the custom animation pane. I can select the text and click the '+' button, but it will not go into the list. Or if there are no animations for the slide and several bullet points, it may only add the first three or four bullets and not the last ones.

Sometimes it will add them all, but quite often the only way to add them all is to select the textbox itself and add it which will create a nested list of animations, then I have to delete the first item so it will appear with the slide instead of on click.

I haven't noticed a reproducible pattern, but it happens to me every week when I'm making a new presentation, usually multiple times.

As a side note, I did find a problem once where some of the slides had animations which were not connected to any element so you had to click once which did nothing. The only way to remove it was to manually go into the xml file and remove those element-less animations.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a bulleted list of multiple items (usually 4 or more)
2. Select some of the text of each line
3. Click '+' Add Effect on the custom animation pane

Actual Results:
The final element or two of the list will not appear in the animation pane

Expected Results:
All of the elements should appear in the custom animation pane.

Reproducible: Sometimes

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
You may need to duplicate the slide and add or change items to activate the bug. It does not happen ever time.

Trying to add the remaining lines again does not work. Or occasionally adds them as a blank item in the custom animation pane. Sometimes changing slides and coming back will fix the problem.

This also happens sometimes if I duplicate a slide and add a new bullet point. Selecting any part of that text will not add the animation when Add Effect is clicked.

Not sure what the earliest affected version is. I know it affected 6.4 and is still here in 7.2.2.2, I think it was even earlier.

The work around is to remove all the items from the animation pane, select the Text Frame itself and choose Add Effect. Then all the list elements will be added but nested under the first element.

What does this mean? It sounds like we should do a multi-selection of text in all 4 lines, but that is not possible in Impress.

Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED after you have provided the information.

I usually do a selection which starts somewhere in the middle of the bottom line and runs back up until the middle of the first line which doesn't yet have an animation. So the first and last lines are partially selected and anything in between is fully selected. Then I hit the '+' button to add an animation.

It usually works fine, but often times only the first bullet point or two contained in the selection is added to the animation list and the others are missing. Sometimes when adding the last line of a bulleted list to the animations in this way, the entry in the animation list will be blank (no text). Sometimes after going to a different slide and coming back, the text of the item will appear in the animation list. Other times (rarely) it will remain blank.

It seems to happen at random, but I'm not sure.
