Windows Imaging Component (WIC) is a COM-based imaging codec framework of Microsoft Windows, with this support LibreOffice would be possible to import and export wider range of image formats, make them display and print properly, and regardless the limited support in LibreOffice.

Why use this thing tied to Windows rather than a cross-platform library like https://github.com/libjxl/libjxl or the FLIF lib?

I've seen that MS Office have already implemented this functionality. BTW, does macOS and Linux also have similar API?
