Description HTK300 2021-09-06 13:58:39 UTC
Description:
in macOS even if a BASE file (odb) is open, it will not be shown in the main menu [Window) indicating its filename. However, in Window, it shows only that the BASE app of Libreoffice is open, but lacks to identify the BASE filename in the menu [Window]

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open a BASE file (*.odb)
2. open another LibreOffice WRITER or CALC file
3. go to the Main Menu [Window], there is only the WRITER or CALC file, but no BASE file indicated, even one base file is currently open

Actual Results:
indication of currently open BASE file not shown in the main menu under [Window]

Expected Results:
filename to be indicated in the main menu [Window]

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
quite different behavior in macOS and WINDOWS 8 & 10.

screenshot Base filename in Windows

this is macOS with only BASE file open
Comment 3 Ross Johnson 2021-09-20 10:39:15 UTC
Similarly (on Windows, assume also on Mac) the database filename is not shown in the Base window title bar, although it is for other LO apps.

Version: 7.3.0.0.alpha0+ (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 5244f02b4da126a1361a72ae07e8c53618dc920f
CPU threads: 12; OS: Windows 6.1 Service Pack 1 Build 7601; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: en-AU (en_AU); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

About the only way to discover the filename is to Save-As.

As per Comment 3. I have also found this frustrating over the years, hence the "work-around" mentioned.

screenshots for BASE, CALC Windows menu selecting

Hi, it affects when working with a BASE file and - if working with a CALC file at the same time, I cannot switch in between the windows of the BASE and CALC file currently open, I have to grab it from the desktop somewhere behind other windows.

The main LO [base] menu bar and the LO [calc] menu bar are anyway different, but when having the base app active, I would like to see the base file to be shown in the WINDOW dropdown. However, when having the CALC file currently active, how to switch to the BASE file in the background, then?

COMMAND + TAB won't do that

attached please find two screenshots of this situation.

HINT: having a writer and a calc file open at the same time won't cause a problem here.

It seems that for Windows 10 my currently open BASE files are now being promoted in the [Window] dialog along with other currently open files e.g. calc or writer
Comment 8 HTK300 2022-11-13 10:03:58 UTC
works fine for me now with LO Writer 7.4.2.3
Comment 9 HTK300 2023-08-09 13:07:09 UTC
works for me on LO 7.6 but probably already several versions earlier!

I know, that BASE hold its FORMS, QUERYS, TABLES, REPORTS as inherited files within the container file *.odb

When having other files independent from the BASE file open, they are being displayed in the Window MENU list correctly, yet having for example several FORMS open to copy items back and forth from one another from the BASE file, they are edited within WRITER, but are not listed in the Window MENU. I wish they would be somehow shown as subwindows of the BASE file...
