Description peter josvai 2019-12-31 09:50:30 UTC
Description:
I was just doing some image editing with GIMP,
and I would export the image multiple times, after some further and even further elaboration...
and I realized that this would be so COOL to have in LibreOffic WRITER, too...

first of all, it would be great to have a feature to EXPORT OUTLINE to a document...

this would make the "send / outline" menu like this:

send /
outline to clipboard
outline to document
outline to presentation

NEXT level:
once we have this,
the application could remember where we exported "SENT" the thing...
the outline...
I mean, to which document...

(like GIMP remembers the exported image file, "target.png")

and the next time, one of the options at export would be to overwrite
the previously exported document...

which might be tricky as I imagine, cause that outline document will be very probably open... and what's daily routine for a text editor, like Geany,
to notice that the file has changed, and offer a reload or save as option...
could be difficult for a complex word processor like Writer...

BUT... an automatic "update" "refresh" is not unimaginable, as I imagine it :)

anyhow:

now the send menu would be like:

send /

outline to clipboard
outline to XXX.odt
outline to document
outline to presentation

 - - - - -

NEXT level:

exporting the outline could be moved from "send"
to an export menu...

like "export outline"
under "Export" and "Export as"...

Steps to Reproduce:
1. export the outline to a document
2. go send to clipboard, and paste it into a document
3. export it again

Actual Results:
you have to repeat send / outline to clipboard / paste it into document

Expected Results:
at first export:

click (select) "send / outline to document"
create a new document "this_outline.odt"
click okay

next time:
click (select) "send / outline to "this_outline.odt"
and although it is open, it would be updated

just click send outline to

Reproducible: Always

I assume you know, that you can send outline to clipboard. And after that I can paste it into a document or presentation. So I don't understand your enhancement request. Or do you want to create a new document with the outline as content?
