Created attachment 151325 [details] simple chart for testing Version: 6.2.3.2 (x64) The Calc user guide says that if no data series is selected in a chart, then trend lines for all data series will be created. What I expect to be able to do: 1) Select the chart by double-clicking on it to enter edit mode. 2) Go to Insert > Trend Line on the Menu bar to open the Trend Lines dialog ( What happens instead: On the Insert menu, Trend Line is grayed out Please tell me if any further information would be helpful.
This was changed in https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=b0fbaa6fa28df570e8179f166fe0547892b2dbc7 The commit's comment claims: As we can now have more trendlines per one data series this becomes cumbersome so only allow to add a trend line when data series is selected or known. I guess the documentation should be updated ?
@Olivier, what do you think ?
Yes, as there can be more trend lines per data series, the simple logic in that menu options fell apart and writing a complex logic wansn't worth it IMHO.
Let's move this one to NEW
I will not include this option in documentation unless I hear otherwise.
Rafael Lima committed a patch related to this issue. It has been pushed to "master": https://git.libreoffice.org/help/commit/5dd44ff1d347e6aea29315d4acd1f42ad08d2d4a tdf#125244 Fix instructions about Trend Lines in charts
