Description Grumpyoldman 2018-10-05 15:25:00 UTC
Description:
Linux Mint 18.3, Sylvia. Invoking Libre Office 5 from the desktop icon displays the summary of all recent documents created. Simply moving the cursor across the display, prior to selecting the appropriate document, causes the computer to crash. The screen is blanked and the user is forced to log back in by supplying his password. This does not happen every time but neither is the failure frequency negligible. Please note that allow the splash plate shows Libre Office 5 I am unable to find the precise version number.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Double-click desktop Libre Office icon.
2. Move cursor over displayed list of documents without making a selection,
3. This action is sufficient to initiate the failure. It will not happen if a document is double-clicked for display. The always works.

Actual Results:
As above but you may need a bit of patience. The failure frequency is random but could be around one in ten. It is not much less.

Expected Results:
The screen will occasionally blank and re-entry of the user sign-in password re-requested but normal document selection is more frequent.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Sorry, but 5.x versions have reached end of life. May I ask you to try again with up-to-date LibreOffice packages? Current versions are 6.0.6 and 6.1.2 right now.
