Description Yousuf Philips (jay) (retired) 2017-05-30 08:23:23 UTC
It would be useful to be able to see the same list in the 'Set Paragraph Style' toolbar drop down menu control inside of the Styles & Formatting sidebar deck. I propose it be named 'Recommended'.

Hi Jay,

Can you explain why you would find that useful and why 'Recommended'.?

So the same list found in the toolbar is also accessible in the sidebar.

Why 'Recommended', as that seems like a suitable label as it is what appears in the toolbar, but any useful label can be used.

Thus you assume that people would appreciate to find that list there too.

Maybe 'Short list' ?

What about the default selection shown in the Styles and Formatting pane? I think that should _not_ be 'Recommended', because then opening the pane should be followed by the user action to choose another selection, before the 'more ..' from the dropdown 'Apply Style' takes effect, and also before novices to seven see that there are more styles there. Do you get what I mean?

Whatever UX agrees upon is fine with me.

The default selection should be one that is beneficial to both beginners and experts, which presently we dont have, while currently we default to hierarchical which is only beneficial to experts.

So that is a different discussion.
Maybe open a separate issue and make handling of this one depending on outcome of that one?

This assumption for me still has a (little) question mark ;)

Yes a different discussion that should require a new bug report.

Yes that is the assumption. :D
