In Writer, the Drawing Object Properties toolbar appears when selecting an embedded audio or video and allows you to modify the objects line and fill properties, though they do not show in the document and arent saved in ODF.

In Impress, line and fill properties can be modified of media in Format > Line and Format > Area, but similar to Writer, they do not show in the presentation or are saved in ODF.

So the question i'd like to ask is whether this is a bug that should be fixed, as these properties are possible to be set in ms office.

@Regina, Do you have any input here?

A sound is put into a <draw:frame> element with child element <draw:plugin>. An image becomes a <draw:frame> element with child element <draw:image>, and a chart becomes a <draw:frame> element with child element <draw:object>, for example. For images and charts the <draw:frame> element can get graphic properties which include stroke or border settings and fill or background. There is no file format reason not to do the same in case of <draw:plugin>.

But currently a sound is represented with this ugly black 5cm x 5cm sign, and it is not possible to use a custom sign. And currently the plugin is not exported to html, svg or xhtml, and it is not saved in a pptx export. Therefore currently a border or line or background or filling is not needed and the line-and-filling toolbar should be disabled in case of <draw:plugin>. But in the long term I would prefer to repair the shortcomings I have mentioned, and then enable the line-and-filling toolbar.

Moving to NEW and change it to enhancement

Presentation with thick stroke around media object

This is the same file as attachment 176866 [details] from bug 146179 but in pptx format. Both files are generated by PowerPoint 365. They have a thick stroke around the media object.

If the file is opened in LibreOffice, the stroke is missing.
