Description Uwe Altmann 2017-01-10 11:56:50 UTC
With .pkg files, Admins are able to use Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) to distribute installations or updates over their network automatically. DMG has to be installed manually on each computer.

pkg format also will be needed in the future to fix some other annoyances in Mac install like overwriting system preferences when installing a new version.

Whilst nice to have, would it be feasible within the current build and storage framework/infrastructure ?

Would it involve changing the build process ?

It seems to be a big ask for a relatively small target user base,, i.e. network admins of administered Macs, but not my decision - the do-ers and the ESC will be the ones that make this happen (or not).

Confirming.
