Description Jeff Fortin Tam 2011-02-26 09:46:15 UTC
The current toolbars are very flexible, but they are painful to manage/edit because you cannot use drag and drop to do so. Instead, you need to go into Tools > Customize, mess with categories and open/close dialogs each time you want to add an item, which is quite tedious.

Ideally, we should have a user interface that is drag-and-drop based, supports searching, has a live/immediate feedback and uses direct manipulation.

One of the best examples of such an interface is Firefox's (or Epiphany's) toolbar editing system. It's might not perfect, but it is pretty close.

Thanks for new idea. Currently I can find described ability only in KOffice. At least partially. Alas, internals of LibreOffice not allow this functionality. But, I hope, in future this will be possible, and will be implemented.

Setting to NEW as this is confirmed that it's a enhancement that seems like it would be quite functional. In terms of how hard this would be to do....I suspect pretty hard :-/ I'll bring it up in the mailing list and see if one of the UI guys want to take it on
