Description Yousuf Philips (jay) (retired) 2016-09-11 18:46:56 UTC
Now that the extended toolbar (notebookbar) has been implemented, there will be quite a bit of bugs for it, so lets put them together.
Comment 1 Yousuf Philips (jay) (retired) 2016-09-11 18:50:55 UTC
During GSOC I created the following google doc with various bugs, enhancements, and research.

I tried LibreOffice Notebookbar. It is really great. But somehow, sometimes some icons just dissapper? (Problem 1)

And when using drawings and images, regular toolbars (image properties, drawing properties, formatting properties for textbooks) keep appearing (Problem 2).
Comment 3 Aron Budea 2016-11-09 18:12:26 UTC
Thank you for the feedback, Ljiljan. Problem 2 has already been reported as bug 103226, but Problem 1 seems to be a new one, if it's reproducible, could you open a bug report for it?

The Start Center would make a perfect main 'File' Button for the Notebook Bar. See Bug 77590.
Comment 5 Kurt Kremitzki 2017-02-20 05:14:14 UTC
Is this the right place to request an enhancement for the notebookbar?

I often need to create a new file in a different LO program. For example, if I'm working on a spreadsheet I might want to open a new Writer file for some documentation, or maybe I want to make a quick diagram in Draw for the report I'm writing.

With notebookbar enabled, there is no easy way AFAIK to do this with default settings. Ctrl+N will let me make a new file in whatever program I'm already using, but I need to enable the menubar every time I need to open a new file in a different LO program, and then disable it again.

It'd be really nice to have a button in the File tab of every program that addresses this need.

A separate bug report would be needed for that (this one just provides an overview of all bugs affecting the Notebookbar). It looks like there is one already: bug 103669.

For anyone wondering what "Notebookbar" might be: it refers to several alternative user interfaces available for LibreOffice, even though the term is not used in the interface anymore, and is disappearing from the documentation.

You can find some information in this documentation page: https://help.libreoffice.org/7.1/en-US/text/shared/01/notebook_bar.html

In a nutshell, it is any user interface that is not Standard toolbar, Single toolbar, or Sidebar.
