I'm no longer able to trigger the bad behaviour described in Step 2d of my original report, though I can still trigger the bad behaviour described in Step 2c. Also, once Step 2c is triggered, I can scroll neither left nor right by clicking in the track of the horizontal scrollbar. (Previously, I think it was impossible only to scroll right.)
