These versions are free software (as in open source) but there’s a small charge to cover the effort of putting software in the app stores, and to help develop the software (and build our communities).

macOS

First check the system requirements before installing LibreOffice on macOS. Important: on the Download page, please make sure you are choosing the right version for your Mac – Intel or Apple Silicon. The latter is the default, but if you have an Intel Mac, you will need to choose the Intel version.

LibreOffice vs OpenOffice

LibreOffice is the successor to OpenOffice.org, commonly known as OpenOffice, which had its last major update in 2014. (There have been occasional minor updates since then, but OpenOffice has a history of leaving security issues unfixed so all users are strongly recommended to upgrade to LibreOffice, which is more actively maintained.)

Windows Server 2012 through 2022, Windows 10 or 11 (LibreOffice is fully supported on Windows 11)
Pentium-compatible PC
256 MB RAM (512 MB RAM recommended)
Up to 1.5 GB available hard disk space
1280x800 resolution, with at least 256 colors

Administrator rights are needed for the installation process. It is a recommended best practice to back up your system and data before you remove or install software.

Description:

A stack buffer overflow existed when importing a colour-replacement record. Two fixed-size colour tables were filled from the file, but the write position was not reset between the two passes over the record, so a file whose combined colour counts exceeded the table size wrote past the end of the tables on the stack.
