Shapes in OOXML are displayed either as a DrawingML object using the <w:drawing> tag[1] or a VML object using the <w:pict> tag[2].

Adjusting META bug to reflect that it's a general OOXML shape tracker, not specific to DOCX.

Regényi Balázs committed a patch related to this issue.
It has been pushed to "master":

It will be available in 7.1.0.

The patch should be included in the daily builds available at
