Description Frank 2012-02-14 09:52:23 UTC
After removing 3.4.5 and installing 3.5.0 RPMs on Mandriva 2010.2, I found that none of my previous settings were migrated from 3.4.5. The reason turned out to be that the settings directory was moved from ~/.libreoffice to ~/.config/libreoffice (why?!), but files were not moved and no link to the previous location was set on installation of 3.5.0.

Proposal: use old location or set link from ~/.config/libreoffice to ~/.libreoffice.

Thanks for bugreport
> ~/.config/libreoffice (why?!)
For users can use two version of office independently. Also it is FreeDesktop standard to hold profiles in ~/.config

Sasha,

that's a good point! =) Maybe LO >= 3.5 could offer a migration (copy, symlink...) on first start when it finds a profile in ~/.libreoffice and none in ~/.config/libreoffice?

May be. But it makes not much sense because most users already done migration manually.

Same here: after upgrading from 3.4.6 to 3.5.5 and then 3.5.6 (so late because of bug # 47520 that broke my workflow and has been fixed then) with the vanilla debian i386 packages from the download page I realized that all my templates were gone and then after some googling that this move of configuration directory had taken place. For me it was easy to do a "rm -r .config/libreoffice && mv .libreoffice .config/libreoffice", but this will not be the case for Joe average user. I consider it a severe bug that no migration is provided by default, and I believe there are still users upgrading late. There definitely should be a (silent) migration doing just this "mv .libreoffice .config/libreoffice" provided that 1. there exists a ~/.libreoffice directory and 2. there is no .config/libreoffice directory. Thats a 1 minute fix to every Linux installer.

OpenOffice were never migrating settings.

As this bug report is about a very old version and does not concern current ones, I close it as WonfFix. Please feel free to reopen if I am wrong.
