Description Yousuf Philips (jay) (retired) 2014-09-26 01:09:17 UTC
As a new presentation app user, i was very confused about what the slide design dialog did, because all it listed was the default master slide. So i'd like to suggest that the list of available presentations backgrounds also be included in this dialog, similar to how they are listed in the master slides pane in the sidebar.

Users could go the long route to achieve this same behaviour by clicking on the 'Load' button, then clicking 'Presentation Backgrounds' and then selecting one from the 'Templates' list.

So the new dialog would look something like this.

----------------------

Select a Master Slide Design Used in This Presentation
[list of master slides]

Select a Master Slide Design from the Template List
[list of master slides]

[checkboxes]
[buttons]
----------------------

In order not to heavily increase the height of the dialog, the master slide lists should contain 3 entries per row and should be a single row.

Presumably this is a reference to other Master Pages NOT currently used in the presentation? I think we should look at dispensing with the "background" term altogether (these are master pages, or even better master slides). It is merely confusing outside of editing a master page, but possibly involves ugly template work. This applies to bug 84342 as well.

This is a good case study of where the sidebar is a big improvement over toolbars / menus / dialogs.

I think it could easily be possible to get two rows in, but the excessive whitespace around the thumbnails in this dialog need to be reduced in order to display in the same manner as that in the sidebar. I guess that is another report :-) Status set to NEW. Minor edit to summary.

This report was fully justified at that time.
In the mean time the situation improved.
