Description Marlin 2014-04-07 10:24:59 UTC
When using LibreOffice 4.2 with screen readers, spelling errors are not communicated, so that the screen reader cannot announce them for us.
However, if you open the context menu, the suggestions are shown.
This is most likely a regression, as doesn't occurred in older versions of this branch.
I noticed this from the version 4.2.2 or something.
Also doesn't occurs in 4.3.

Thanks for reporting.

@Niklas: you mind confirming this one. We, as QA team, have difficulties confirming this (marking as NEW).
I saw you fix http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=c6ff6106882494be61425c4cad38f935fca97d47 related to notification of screen readers.

Thanks in advance,
Joren

As noted by Marlin it works in the pre-releases of 4.3 but not in the 4.2 series.

I can confirm the issue with LibreOffice 4.2.5 on Windows 7 64-bit using NVDA as a screen reader. I tried it with and without experimental features activated.

The issue does not appear in LibreOffice 4.2.5 on Mac and Fedora, both of them report misspelled words, so it seems to be a Windows only problem.

Thanks Niklas! So we can mark this one as NEW.

So we can mark this one as a regression :-).

So on Windows 7 sp1, 64-bit en-US with
Version: 4.3.0.4
Build ID: 62ad5818884a2fc2e5780dd45466868d41009ec0

movement into and out of a detected --spelling error-- object is announced, and corrections are available on context menu.
