It's a great idea, but OO.org headers more look like Windows 95. :) Headers should carry the look of the platform they are on. Saying this, any effort should be done in coordination with Bug 57894. A valid enhancement request, setting status to "NEW". Mockup by Mirek: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/images/3/34/Calc-headers.png In order to limit the confusion between ProposedEasyHack and EasyHack and to make queries much easier we are changing ProposedEasyHack to NeedsDevEval. Thank you and apologies for the noise Just updated my mockup to match the new icon set better: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/images/3/34/Calc-headers.png. (The highlight color should, of course, still be based on the system highlight color.) I'm not sure whether the header rectangles can contain inner borders as in the mockup -- that would be good to know. It would also be good to change the appearance of the selection box to reflect the selection color and to sit above the Calc headers, not below. Thanks, Mirek. CCing Kendy so that he can evaluate this. Migrating Whiteboard tags to Keywords: (needsDevEval, topicUI) [NinjaEdit] Created attachment 153416 [details]

Image showing difference between light and dark theme
While viewing row numbers and column letters is easy in a light theme such as Adwaita it is less clear when a user has a dark theme such as Adwaita-dark.
I would favor having a uniform color derived from the user's gtk/qt theme without the need for a step gradient effect. Thanks!
Don't we want to stay as close as possible with the system theme and isn't the column header drawn with default colors/gradients? The default color is fine but is the gradient necessary? The gradient makes the numbers for each row less clear if the system theme is dark. I don't see any purpose in the gradient as it exists. Fixed in core commit 67fd62b3edc86c2891f279b25cf9919c4bbbbca1 (master/6.4.x). |
